Towards the end of autumn term we spent some time over at Oasis Academy Oldham. We ran a number of sessions with a focus on drama and digital video art. Working with Steph Meskell-Brocken and Sophie Mahon.

The workshops were part of Hollinwood Horizons funded project which focuses on giving young people a voice in their community. The subject of the students final films focused on community cohesion and the voices of young people.

As one of the animations said: “We are all Human. We are all a community of 100{3c0d36e3735f757d9dabb56545ae857d7c08433cd9155c8b4932af97a8dc8594} power.” Great positive messages which was really enriching to hear from such talented young people.

At the Mahdlo Youth Zone and Oasis Academy ‘Flavours’ event we shared animations that were created and also performed drama work from our awesome actors at Oasis Academy. It was a great day and you can see a couple of examples of the films below.

Originally formed in 1991 as a community theatre project for Oldham’s Asian community, Peshkar has evolved into the UK’s leading participatory arts organisation targeting young people who are deemed hard to reach or socially disadvantaged.
